THE SUMMER HARVEST SOCIAL SLOW FOOD ROARING FORK MEETS THE NORTH FORK September 12th @ Restaurant SIX89 in Carbondale Carbondale, CO (August 18, 2005)—Slow Food Roaring Fork and an astonishing lineup of chefs from the Roaring Fork Valley, the North Fork Valley and Denver will team up at Carbondale’s Restaurant SIX89 downvalley on Monday, September 12th at 6:30 p.m. to celebrate the state’s harvest with an astounding dinner. The price including dinner and wine is $75.00 for Slow Food members and $85.00 for non-members. The fund-raising event will feature host Chef Mark Fischer and guest chefs Dena Marino of Ajax Tavern, David Von Holton of the Artisan in Snowmass Village, Frank Bonnano of Denver’s Mizuna and Luca d’Italia, Adrian Carpenter of Basalt's Dogwood Grill, Kelly Steinmetz of the Flying Fork Café and Bakery in Paonia and Patrick Walley of the Smith Fork Ranch in Crawford, Colorado. Wines for the event will be provided by North Fork Vintners such as Steve Rhodes of Hotchkiss-based S. Rhodes Vineyards and Alfred Eames of Alfred Eames Cellars in Paonia. The chefs will use product from the North Fork and Western Slope of Colorado as central elements, including peaches, cheeses, corn, tomatoes, lamb, mushrooms, and eggs, morphing all into a memorable tasting menu with wines matching. The dinner is a benefit for the Slow Food Roaring Fork chapter. Slow Food is a worldwide, non-profit educational organization dedicated to ecologically sound food production; the revival of the kitchen and the table as centers of pleasure and community; the preservation of regional, seasonal culinary traditions; and to living life at a slower, more harmonious pace.
